“The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. On that day all the divine floodgates through which graces flow are opened.”

—Jesus to St. Faustina (Diary, 699)

The Divine Mercy message given to St. Faustina is a private revelation—not required belief but lovingly affirmed by the Church. In 2002, St. Pope John Paul II granted a plenary indulgence on Divine Mercy Sunday, through the Church’s authority—not the revelation itself. To receive it, the faithful must go to Confession, receive Communion, pray for the Pope, and have complete detachment from sin—even venial. That last part may seem hard, but it's about sincerely renouncing sin, not perfection. If we fall short, God still pours out grace. Trust in His mercy, and come with a heart open to receive it.

P.S. I'll hear confessions immediately after the holy hour.
